Only 2 locations on earth have horse hair or horse tail inclusions.They are the Ural Mountain range in Russia and  Black Lake in Canada.Only the Ural Russian Demantoid Garnets are yellowish green as this Demantoid is.This is indeed the rarest type of Garnet and rarest most desirable location. Very bright and sparkly end to end.  Minor surface abrasions.  Huge surface area making the stone even rarer.  11.40 x 8.40 x 4.62mm.  Our gemologist believes the stone to be of Russian origin because or the horse tail inclusion and bright appearance. The hand made 1860-1880’s 18k ring was certainly mad for this fine old stone.  It is hand engraved and pierced with solid yellow gold with the finest of workmanship.  The diamonds are old mine cushion cut with high dome tops and small tables.  They are F color, colorless and very clear.  A huge amount of sparkle and brilliance and color flash jumps from the stones.  Clarity ranges from V, VS to SI1.  Most are VS.  One has a natural cavity that makes it SI2.  There are a few minor surface abrasions.  The prongs are all in good condition.  The setting show no repairs or defects.  This is truly a rare world class jewel.  Demantoid Garnets almost never form over 3 carats. When they do the are usually lumpy and murky. This stone has the surface area of a 4 to 5 carat stone and is very, very bright.  The defects of this ring are also it’s assets.  The minor surface abrasions are barely visible to the eye and prove the original authentic 1860 to 1880 age.  This beautiful old setting alone is worth a trip from anywhere to see.  Stone and ring go to the next level.  World class, truly rare.  Use whatever words you wish  - this is one of the best estate rings around today.  Please do not ask to separate the stone or the ring.  They came to us this way and have been together well over 100 years.  12 old mine cut diamonds approx. total weight 3.0cts, F, VVS1- SI1.  1 GIA certified Andradite Garnet demantoid, 3.08cts.  GIA certificate # 17454231.  Tested:  18k.  7.1 grams.  ¾ x 5/8 inch.  Size 6 ¼ and sizeable.                       We know it is scary out there.
