Our system for doing so is proprietary because gemologist tend to value clarity alone while customers for these stones also seem to prefer features such as coloration & even slight cloudiness. We are giving this Peruvian Opal a 9.7 out of 10. It has a nice smooth cabochon surface, it is a fairly clear stone but as you rock it back and forth faint little clouds sort of drift around inside of it ... like they are moving across the sky on a summer day! The stone has a brilliant coloration and we are showing Evie's Peruvian Opal ring along side of it for comparative purposes - that ring was rated an 8.0. ***** For over 35 years Grigoris Evangelatos has been designing and producing jewelry in his Kaisariani workshop.
