Description
chevronika store FAMOUS ROOSTER ELBOW MILLEFIORE!, 1800's - trade beads WELCOME TO CHEVRONIKA:A HOPELESS BEAD ADDICT WHO KNOWS JUST WHAT YOU NEED!THIS IS A GEMThis bead has a long and colorful history, which makes it so famous. According to the late bead expert Peter Francis, back in the 1940's the city of Venice wanted to impose a large tax on the beadmakers of Murano Island, which is right off Venice, and is also where all of our Venetian beads have been made since the 1400's. Well, the Rooster is the symbol of Venice and Murano Island, and the beadmakers created this bead to protest the tax. I collect these beads (being a natural protester myself) and it's very hard to let go of one that is so large (slightly larger than 2 inches long) and in such excellent condition (only a small, nearly invisible notch near one end of the perforation). I have watched these beads grow in value over the years, which is why I invest in them. Here's your chance to own a real gem, and is a must for millefiore collectors. I know it's expensive--you should see what I had to pay for it!!Venetian, 1940'safrican trade beads, antique trade beads, antique venetian beads, millefiore beads I will continue to accept money orders and personal checks, even after Ebay wants to force you to use Paypal only. You must contact me at beadnik1960@sbcglobal.net to make arrangements for non Paypal payments.Domestic Shipping: USPS First Class mail, $5.50, .25 cents for each additional item. The only reason I am charging for additional items is that Paypal requires that we sellers use Delivery Confirmation on all our packages, which costs the seller an additional $.70. Insurance is not mandatory but is recommended. I will use exact USPS postal insurance rates to calculate your insurance cost.Chevronika loves beads, and loves selling them to you.
